My top 5 curly girls I follow on Instagram

When I first went natural back in 2010, I did a whole lot of research to help me make the process easier. I also came across many ladies that have been in the game for a long time that gave me hope and inspiration to stay on track. There are quite a few that I came to follow religiously mostly because most of them basically has my hair type and also the colour that I’m wearing these days.

It’s always good to get yourself a few “hair role models” to follow and just get an idea of how they do things and try it on yourself to see if it works for you or not. Here are my top 5 curly girls that I often stalk when I need ideas.

1. BeautybyLee

I just love Lee. She’s a make up artist but blog & vlogs about her hair too which is obviously the part that I’m interested in too. Our hair is kinda similar…(in my opinion) but hers is much more stunning of course. One of my haircuts was inspired by her twa. Catch her on Youtube and also on her blog.

2. Makeupbydenise

Isn’t she just gorgeous?? She’s actually a make up artist and hardly vlogs about her hair that she mostly wear in an afro/wash n go. You can see more of Denise on Youtube where she vlogs about make up mostly.

She has great tutorials of funky hairstyles that is so easy to do yourself. if you are looking for something different, this is the girld for you. You can find her on Instagram and also Youtube where she shows us some great hairstyles.

Jeanette rocks a mean head of curls that she achieves by setting her hair in perm rods. This is something I’d love to perfect some day when I get some rods and my hair is longer.  She not only does this but a few other hairstyle too. She has a Youtube channel loaded with tutorials on how to achieve her gorgeous curls.

5. Shinestruck

Priscilla comes from a culture where straight hair was good hair and curly hair bad. She also battled chemical and heat damage and made time to get to know her hair to take better care of her hair. You can watch her journey here and also check out her blog. Her Instagram is full of great snaps of her and her gorgeous hair.

How stunning are they? With our fast growing natural hair community in South Africa especially in Cape Town, I have already spotted a few curly girls with dazzling curls. I am looking forward to see what the feature holds for us natural girls around here.

PS. All photos are sourced from their personal Instagram accounts.

Till later.
