Today commemorates the movement for women’s rights. International Women’s Day is annually held on March 8 to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.
Women are awesome human beings and while there are still many issues surrounding women that still needs to be resolved, I am thankful that women have found some kind of place in the world.
The world is filled with many great women, women who have made their mark in various industries. Some recognized and some not. Most of those unrecognized ones are called MOTHERS.
We all know of mothers that leaves their home at the crack of dawn to get to work in time. There are those who needs to work hard to earn enough money to put their kids through school and university. We also have moms out there who sacrificed their careers for the safety of their kids or because they don’t have a good support system in place. Then we have those woman who have no support from a husband or the father of their child.
We have many amazing moms out there and today I want to salute all of them. I was raised by a single mom in tough circumstances and that makes my mum an extraordinary human being.
