Family Life

Word for 2016

It is tradition for the church we visit at to do a 21 Day Daniel Fast from mid January to February. This year we joined in and one of the things a prayed for was that God would give me some sort of direction as I sometimes feel overwhelmed with everything that is going on in my life.

I’m sure many mothers of young children sometimes feel exactly the way I do especially if you’re like me, have 3 of them and working fulltime. This is not me complaining, believe me. I love every minute I get to spend with them. They are truly the centre of my life. My scenario is simply that I am a:

  1. Mother
  2. Wife
  3. Homemaker (cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.)
  4. Administrator (Fulltime employee)
  5. Student (part time)
  6. Blogger (trying to be)

And in between all of that I still have to be myself and also give of myself to anyone who needs me according to Mark 12 verse 31 – Love thy neighbour… Again, I am not complaining and as mentioned earlier, it sometimes gets to a point where I need to just step outside of all of this madness, take a deep breath and return to that place. A place I have chosen for myself.

So as I paged through the Bible, I came across this scripture in 2 Peter 1: 3 – 11.

2 Peter 1 3_11

It spoke straight into my heart, saying that I have everything I need, EVERYTHING… Everything that I will ever need has already been given to me. God has made so many promises not only to me but to you as well. Promises that can come into existence if only I follow the instructions that He supplied me with. Simple. Isn’t it? We have no reason to run around like headless chickens in this crazy world that we live in because we have been supplied with everything beforehand. The last part of verse 10 says: “For if you do these things, you will never stumble”.

Even though we are already in February, I have decided that this will be my scripture for 2016. I hope it blesses you as it blesses me each time I read it. Feel free to comment with your favourite verses too.

Be blessed
