Carol’s Daughter…made with love

I think what make this product so special is the story behind it. Listening to Lisa Price, the founder of the product, tell how it all started, gave me a lump in my throat. For those who is not familiar with Lisa’s story,  let me give you a quick run through of where it all started.

Lisa described her mom as a lover of perfume and naturally when she grew up, she too grew a love for nice smelling things. She was so obsessed that she started making her own using oils and later started to make some body butter cause, layering the smells makes the smell last longer. it was her mother, Carol (hence the name), who encouraged her to sell her butters at the local flea markets in their neighborhood. This quickly escalated to her selling it at every other market or fair happening until the demand was so high that people started coming to her home to get their hands on her products. She later moved on to making hair products as well which is what she’s is mostly known for.

The brand caters to different hair types and has a quite a few ranges to choose from. I was lucky to try the Hair Milk range, a range that promises to nourish and condition your strands. This range is quite light weight and a little goes a long way. It contains a blend of Agave Nectar, Cocoa and Shea, to add deep moisture and perfect all curl types.

The range consist of the following products:

Cleansing conditioner

This is a cleanser in conditioner form also known as a co-wash and comes in a 355ml pump dispensing bottle. Besides the smell, you know how I love that a product smells good, I also love the fact that as soon as I put it on my hair, it immediately feels soft. You can also feel how it cleanses your scalp without stripping your hair from moisture.

Curl defining moisture mask

After washing my hair with the cleansing conditioner I covered my hair from root to tip with the conditioning mask. This mask comes in a 340ml tub and really penetrates your hair leaving your moisturized and nourished. I can always see how effective a conditioner or mask is by the definition of my curls. After working the product into my hair, I could see how my curls clumped together giving it major definition.

Original leave-in moisturizer

I was never really keen on using moisturizers but 236ml bottle of moisture definitely changed my mind. With this product, a little goes a long way. I know some of you wouldn’t believe me but trust me, my hair soaks up product and if I say you really only need to use a little bit, you really only need a little bit. I think if you should put on too much of the product especially if you’re used to layer your products like me, you’ll end up with greasy hair.

Alcohol-free gel

Not everyone uses hair gel and if you are one of those that does, you know that you need a really good  gel. Before all the curl creams was available to us, gel was the only thing that would let my curls pop and finding a good gel was difficult. As the natural hair community grew more gels became available and I would list this gel as one of my top 5 gels to try. I have used it once, on a wash and go as the last product I layered and I didn’t experience any flaking. It is a clear non-sticky substance availble in a 236ml tube.

This entire range is parabens, petroleum and mineral oil free with no artificial colors added. It provides intense moisture which softens and defines your curls.

If this particular range doesn’t suit your hair type, do try some of the other ranges like the Black Vanilla or Rassoul Clay which is available at Clicks stores.

If you have purchased or used some of the products in this range, tag me on Instagram or Facebook and let me know what your thoughts are.

Till later.
