Christmas gift shopping made easy

The point of this post would ideally be for you to love this idea and start doing it right away but, being the procrastinator that I am, this post that should have gone live in July already, is only being posted now. Luckily there’s still a few months left so let’s jump straight into it.

So while there’s only a few more months left until Christmas, I’m one of those people that are always running around up until the last minute to get my Christmas gift shopping done. What most people don’t know and I sometimes forget is that gift shopping shouldn’t be a schlep if done way in advanced. By advanced I mean, months ahead, say… July?

Here are some tips on getting everything done without a rush.

Make a list
First make a list of all the people you want to give a gift to. If you’re like me and you love to put some real thought into the kind of gift you give, write down a few options of what you think each person would like. Make sure you keep that list in your purse at all times.

Get some storage
Next, get a storage bin. One of those with the lids. I suppose normal cardboard boxes would also work but I prefer those black ones you get from Makro or Plastic Warehouse. This has to be big enough to store everything in so get more than one if you have lots of gifts to buy.

Do your homework
All retailers have huge sales during the year. Check those pamphlets out. Clicks always have cute gift sets on sale each month. Don’t forget about the super amazing BLACK FRIDAY sales happening towards the end of the year. You can find many bargains if you do your homework.

Shop,shop, shop
The idea is to get something from your list each time you go out shopping. Whatever you buy on any particular day, dump it in the box and get on with your day. Your box should be filled to the brim by the time the schools close for December holiday.

Wrap it up
You can always wrap each gift as you buy it but I find it easier to wrap everything at once (when all the Christmas wrapping is on sale)

There’s just something about giving someone a gift. Making someone feel special and appreciated does not only make you feel good about yourself but it also creates memories for the person you gift. No matter how small the gift, showing someone that you thought of them, may be exactly what they need at that very moment.

Till later
